Because Gabriel did everything he could think of to help Sam deal with Dean’s death, even though he went about it the wrong way.
Because if Sam had listened to Gabriel he never would have gone on a revenge bender with Ruby and the whole apocalypse wouldn’t have happened.
Because even after everything he had done Sam still wanted to go to him for help.
Because Sam is the first person to whom Gabriel acknowledges his true identity to in probably thousands of years.
Because Sam’s face when he thinks Gabriel is dead is heartbreaking.
Because Sam’s face when he finds out Gabriel is not dead is also heartbreaking.
Because Sam’s face when he watches Casa Erotica is hilarious and over the top and looks like the face you would make if you wanted your brother to believe you didn’t want to see something you actually really wanted to see.
